Cadillac has announced a slate of upgrades for the 2012 Cadillac CTS, making one of the finest luxury automobiles on the market even more appealing to Columbia SC drivers in the coming year. Available in sedan, coupe, and sport wagon models, the Cadillac CTS has been one of the most popular models in Cadillac’s lineup for many years.
Perhaps the most noticeable of the changes for the 2012 Cadillac CTS in Columbia SC is a revised grille, which has been redesigned with world-class finishes that offer a fresh take on the frame and mesh arrangement that has become a trademark of Cadillac styling. The Cadillac wreath and crest emblem has also been redesigned slightly, with sharper colors and raised ridges giving the emblem more of a three-dimensional look compared to the outgoing model.
2012 Cadillac CTS Sees More Power, Less Weight
From behind the wheel, Columbia drivers will find an even more exciting improvement underneath their right foot, as the 3.6L V6 engine in uplevel models have been altered for improved performance. Built from an award-winning design, the new engine delivers 318 horsepower to beat the outgoing engine by 14 horses. In addition, Cadillac’s engineering teams were able to integrate components to make the engine 20.5 pounds lighter than the outgoing engine, which helps the CTS’ weight distribution for improved handling and allows it to maintain the 18/27 city and highway fuel economy ratings from the EPA. Driving a 2011 CTS with the outgoing 3.6L engine was an effortless experience, with plenty of acceleration on tap without sounding rushed. Paired with the 6-speed automatic transmission, the 2012 CTS will only improve upon this reputation for exceptional driving dynamics.
Luxury Features and Packages Added to Cadillac CTS
Another welcome change for the Cadillac CTS Coupe in Columbia is the addition of Side Blind Zone Alert. In combination with the mirrors and checking over your shoulder, Side Blind Zone Alert provides an extra measure of assurance when changing lanes by illuminating a warning on your outside mirrors should another vehicle be in your blind spot.
Rainsense wipers, a popular feature in years past on the CTS, returns on Luxury and Premium models; Performance models can receive it as part of the Luxury Level One package. In addition, the new CTS Touring Package offers an exclusive dark-finish grille, metal pedals, dark Sapele wood interior trim, sueded seat inserts, steering wheel, and shift knob, and upgraded wheels, 18″ on 3.0L V6-equipped models, and 19″ wheels on models with the 3.6L engine, the latter of which will also receive 14-way Recaro adjustable performance seats. On the sedan and wagon versions, the CTS Touring Package adds chrome door handles; the coupe uses a hidden touchpad instead to open the doors.
Cadillac CTS-V Delights Columbia SC Drivers
Facing less in the way of change is the CTS-V, Cadillac’s flagship performance model packing a supercharged 556-HP V8 engine. Available with your choice of a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission, the CTS-V is available in all three body styles and features magnetic ride control, touchscreen navigation, keyless start, and Brembo performance brakes. A Car and Driver 10Best winner on multiple occasions, the Cadillac CTS-V is the top choice for those select Columbia drivers that demand nothing short of a world-class driving experience.
